0.3.2

Latest

A fix release for folder sync: safe to use with collaborators typing at the same time.

Fixed

  • Folder sync (desktop app, texloom run and the browser) no longer undoes or garbles collaborators’ edits. Only what changed in the folder since the last sync is applied, on top of their edits; lines changed on both sides take the folder’s version, and the other stays in History.
  • An editor saving or reloading an older copy of a file is no longer treated as an edit.
  • Biber keeps accented characters in bibliographies.

0.3.1

TeXLoom speaks French, catches common LaTeX mistakes, previews your equations, and can fetch any TeX Live package on demand.

New

  • Interface in French, in the web app and the desktop app. The browser’s or system’s language is used, or choose one in Settings or the app’s language menu. Translations support any number of languages, with each language’s plural forms.
  • Mistake checker: common LaTeX errors are underlined, most with a one-click fix: unclosed or mismatched environments, stray braces, \label before \caption, straight quotes, ... for \dots, missing ~ before \ref, $$…$$, repeated words and more.
  • Equation preview: the maths under the cursor, typeset by KaTeX, using the project’s own \newcommand and \DeclareMathOperator macros.
  • TeX Live on demand: servers can offer every TeX Live package to in-browser compiles, fetched as documents need them. --texlive-mirror picks the mirror to use first.
  • Bibliography errors are listed: Biber and BibTeX errors appear under the PDF with the .bib file and line.
  • Compile from scratch deletes LaTeX’s working files first.
  • History: name or rename any version, including automatic ones.
  • When two people create a file with the same name while apart, both are kept (one as name (conflict).tex).
  • Desktop app: language menu, Compile from scratch, translated lines about running programs.
  • Admin page: each creation code is shown, revealed on click.

Fixed

  • Updates reach every open browser again, and the app says why changes aren’t being stored on the server.
  • Biber in the browser finds .bib files in folders (\addbibresource{bib/own.bib}), with ../ paths and different letter case.
  • Settings greys out server storage when the server won’t store the project.

Server

  • Deploys to /var/www/texloom and copies only what the server runs, leaving no backups or caches behind.

0.3.0

The first desktop app, continuous git sync, and many folders kept in step by one process.

New

  • TeXLoom desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux: synced folders in a window and the menu bar or tray. Join a project from a link, share or add existing folders, review lines that run programs, and make edit links for others.
  • One process for many folders: texloom start syncs every folder on the computer’s list, and texloom autostart on starts it at login.
  • Git sync: texloom run --git keeps a git repository (e.g. on GitHub) in step with the project, both ways.
  • Running programs safely: lines that ask to run programs are pointed out and must be approved before shell escape is used (texloom allow).
  • Share dialog: Email… opens your mail app with an invitation and the link; personal links stay on the owner’s device, with Copy and Email per person.
  • Jump between source and PDF with arrows on the divider.
  • + Reference adds the entry to the .bib file the document actually uses.

Fixed

  • Compiled output no longer piles up on the server and on devices.
  • Empty folders and folder deletions sync; the PDF stays visible in small windows.
  • In-browser compiles no longer miss packages from the larger TeX bundle.
  • Security fixes from an audit of the new features.

0.2.0

A real editor: history, review, search, agents and revocable links.

New

  • History: versions, compare, restore, and who wrote each line.
  • Comments and suggested changes that collaborators accept or reject.
  • Agents: an MCP server (texloom mcp) makes Claude Code or any MCP client a visible collaborator.
  • Personal, revocable edit links, and moving a project to new keys.
  • Clickable compile errors, SyncTeX, and jumping to a collaborator’s cursor.
  • Search and replace across files, an outline, and word counts.
  • Paste or drop images; add references from a DOI or arXiv id.
  • Spell check, templates, and importing .zip files and arXiv papers.
  • Offline app: installable, with a service worker.
  • Folders, downloads (PDF and source), and LaTeX completion.
  • Folder sync from Chrome and Edge, and the texloom helper packaged for uv tool install.
  • Server: storage allowances with creation codes, idle-project eviction and a read-only admin page.

0.1.0

The first prototype of local-first, collaborative LaTeX.

New

  • Live, end-to-end encrypted collaborative editing in the browser, with an encrypted relay and store.
  • In-browser compiling, and a folder helper for compiling with your own TeX.
  • In-editor assistant; removing a browser’s copy of a project; server deployment.
  • Start page with project codes, titles and people; resizable, collapsible panes.
